    Alejandra is a co-PI on the project. She is a Research Botanist at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. She is especially interested in the taxonomy and systematics of Colombian ferns, particularly the genus Elaphoglossum, and in training the next generation of fern researchers.   • Michael Sundue

    Michael is a co-PI on the project. Michael Sundue is a fern taxonomist in the tropical diversity section of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. He is also the principal editor for Ferns of the World.

  • Weston Testo

    Wes is a co-PI on the project. He is Assistant Professor of Plant Biology and Director of the Pringle Herbarium at the University of Vermont. He also is a Research Associate at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. He is especially interested in the evolution of Andean ferns and lycophytes, phylogenomics, and using big data sets to study biodiversity. You can visit his website here.

  • Susana Vega

    Susana Vega is a master's student at the University of Antioquia (Colombia), currently working as a research assistant for the project. She is especially interested in the taxonomy, nomenclature, morphology and natural history of plants and more specifically in the genus Selaginella.

  • Sarah K. Morris

    Sarah K. Morris is a PhD student at the University of Vermont. She is interested in macroevolution and historical biogeography of plants of the American Tropics and is currently studying the fern flora of the Chocó Biogeographic Region. You can learn more about her research here.

  • Lucía Vargas-Longas

    Lucía Vargas-Longas is a master’s student at Texas Christian University and the Botanical Research Institute of Texas. She is interested in the taxonomy and evolution of tropical ferns and currently is studying a group of Andean species in the genus Elaphoglossum.

  • Kimberlie Sasan

    Kimberlie is an Herbarium and Research Assistant at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden and Botanical Research Institute of Texas. She provides administrative support to the Ferns of Colombia research team, assists with DNA extractions of collected specimens, and oversees preservation and digitization of dried specimens at deposited at BRIT.
